The
inaugural edition of the writemothers initiative was held at
TBWA\Concept on the 3rd of Sept. This is a first of its kind
initiative in the marketing communications
industry by TBWA\Concept to increase the number of women in
advertising, empower stay-at-home mums, give them an avenue to make
additional income, engage them, knowing that they are able to multi
task.
The event was
opened by TBWA\CONCEPT’s M.D and AAAN President, Kelechi Nwosu who introduced
the first speaker, Mrs Bola Thomas, former AAAN President and one of the
founders of LTC Advertising. In her capacity as one of the pioneer women in
advertising in Nigeria, she talked about the historical challenges for women in
Advertising, stressing that “women should be empowered and not be limited by
their gender”
There was a talk
on Women and Creativity by the 2014 winner of
NTA’s Queen Nigeria beauty pageant, Diamond Okoh, who challenged women
not to stick to the status quo and pursue their dreams. The finalists were then
presented with their certificates of participation and inducted into the
TBWA\CONCEPT family.
As a start of
their learning and development , a creative writing workshop facilitated by Mrs
Ijeoma Oqwuegbu-Uduma, a script writer for MNET Nigeria (Tinsel and Hotel Majestic)
introduced our new WriteMothers to the essentials of creative writing.

Creative Director, TBWA\CONCEPT, rounded up the event by sharing some of the
creative standards expected of them and also outlining the overall aims and
benefits of the WriteMothers initiative to women, mothers and the industry as a
whole.
To end the event
on a lighter note, there were a lot of pictures and signed autographs from the
President (AAAN)
